Whole 30 Pumpkin Spice Energy Bites

For all of you Whole 30-ers, or anyone looking for a healthy energizing snack, I thought I would share this recipe with you. I realize while on the whole 30 you aren’t suppose to give in to sweets, dessert like foods, or snacks….but when I do whole 30, my main goal is just to stay within the guidelines of no refined sugar, dairy, gluten and soy. I love these for breakfast with my coffee, or with my afternoon tea. Using the cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove essential oils make a huge difference in my opinion!

whole 30 pumpkin spice energy bites

1 cup of mission figs or dates

1/2 cup pecans

1/3 cup pumpkin puree

1/4 cup unsweetened coconut flakes (optional)

2 tsp unsweetened almond milk

2 drops of cinnamon vitality essential oil

2 drops nutmeg vitality essential oil

2 drops of clove vitality essential oil

Blend all ingredients in a food processor or blender, until forms a paste (may need another tsp of almond milk) Roll into balls and line on parchment lined cookie sheet. Place in fridge until set. Enjoy!

Ezra James

You guys, our sweet baby Ezra is a week old today (on my Birthday!!!) and we are just so happy he is here with us!

His birth was fairly easy and pretty fast (comparing to R and L!) My water broke around 3:30 AM October 4th and he was born at 1:55pm. I wasn’t in labor the entire time, and my contractions actually never even started on their own, unfortunately. We are so happy he’s healthy and everything went well, and that he’s home in our arms! This video already brings me to tears, and I know we will cherish it, like all the others, for years to come!

35 Weeks Pregnancy Update

I hit 35 weeks tomorrow, and honestly I feel like the time is creeping by at this point. Both Rosalie and Llewyn were early (37 weeks and 38 weeks) so maybe this time too… For the most part we are ready, we have diapers and wipes… that’s the important stuff! I feel so relaxed this time around and I don’t want to say “unprepared” but being the third time, I just know things will fall in to place, and we’ll get there.. so, no stress and no worries here!

Rosalie is getting excited, and completely knows what’s going on this time! It’s hard for her to grasp the time line of how soon the baby will be here, but like she said to me the other day while looking at my bare belly “mom, your baby is getting so big, it can’t fit much longer!’ She knows its soon! I also took her to an ultra sound appointment a few weeks ago, where she asked the tech is she could change it for a baby sister…. oh man…

Llewyn, well…when we ask him about the baby, he points to my belly and kisses it. He loves babies… but has no idea that he’s going to have one very soon! He’s being promoted to the big boy in the house, but I’m not so sure he’s ready. We’re working on it.

David is just so amazed by the acrobatics being performed in my belly. He’s always like, “wow, doesn’t that hurt?!” I mean, its not comfortable. He’s the best. Thankfully, his busiest time of year is right now, so by the time baby comes, things won’t be as hectic at work.. maybe……

My sister took a few photos for me (we’re trying to get a family session together soon, but its hard with David’s busy schedule!!) and I feel like I look so much smaller ( in these photos) than I actually am and feel! Maybe that’s why I love this Pink Blush dress so much. So comfortable, flattering, and that print… cannot go wrong with floral!! You can shop this dress here

or head over to their website here where you can find so many other beautiful maxi dresses!

Two Favorite Pink Blush Dresses

I’ve been collaborating with Pink Blush over the past few months, and it has been so fun! I’ve found so many awesome pieces that I love ( that I’ll probably continue to wear even after I give birth!) They recently sent me a few dresses, that I’ve worn over the past couple weeks, and thought I would share, because who doesn’t love a good dress you can dress up, or down..?!

Black is probably one of my favorite “colors” to wear, especially while pregnant, because it’s so forgiving!  I dressed this dress (which is on sale right now ) up a bit, and wore it out to a special birthday dinner, for our Rosalie! I also, gave it a more casual look with a cap, adidas, and a little jean jacket (would be really cute for fall..too hot right now!)

Another perfect summer or fall dress that I received, and reach for weekly now, is this dress from Pink Blush. It’s beyond comfortable, and I love how versatile it is.

I also added a moto jacket to it, and loved this look!

Banana Ice Cream

This sugar free (had to come back and edit this part…..I say sugar free, because I’m not adding any *refined sugar* so there is natural sugar, from the fruit in this dessert… beware…ha ha) dessert has become our favorite this summer! I thought I would share it for all you moms out there looking for something simple, healthy, and that you’re kids will love- enjoy!!

Banana Ice Cream

4 frozen bananas (cut into small rounds)

1/2 cup of coconut milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla (sugar free if you can find it)

Place cut up banana rounds on a wax paper covered plate and freeze completely. When you’re ready to make the ice cream, take them out and place them directly into your blender. Add half of the coconut milk, vanilla, and blend. Continue to add the rest of the coconut milk until desired consistency.

NOTE- Sometimes I have to add an entire cup of coconut milk, but make sure you stir a few times in between blending and adding milk because it can get very thin, very fast if you don’t! You can enjoy right away, or freeze and enjoy later!

We also like to stir in chopped peaches, or strawberries, and sometimes dark chocolate chunks and peppermint essential oil, for a mint chocolate chip flavor!

Our Favorite Back to School Finds

I can’t believe summer is almost gone, and school officially starts (for Rosalie anyway) in two weeks! Off to kindergarten she goes, and although I’ll miss her, we’re both excited for another great year at Rockbridge Christian Academy!

When I was thinking about putting together a “back to school” post, I’m thinking this might not be super helpful to many, just because Rosalie does go to a private school and has to wear uniforms. Honestly, I wasn’t thrilled about the uniforms at all, at first… I mean, that’s some of the fun of having a daughter, is picking out all the cute clothes, right!? Well, let me tell you about all the headache these uniforms saved me when it came to getting Rosalie ready in the mornings! I mean, when you only have a few color uniforms to pick from, it makes it a pretty simple process!

We kind of learned last year, how to spice up her uniform with cute shoes, hair clips, a cute jacket (which she can’t wear inside if it doesn’t match) or cute socks, and I have to say, its made mornings a breeze! So, here are a few of our favorite finds this year, private school or not, and I’ll link everything below too!

Back to school

1. Rosalie and I both love hair clips, and the Cat and Jack brand (from Target) have the cutest ones! You can find these above HERE!

2. This book bag is also Cat and Jack, and can be found HERE!

3. Rosalie loved these sneakers with the pom pom’s HERE also Cat and Jack (seriously though… the cutest stuff!)

4. The cute knee socks are from HERE!

5. These kitty shoes are probably our favorite shoes ( same company as her popsicle shoes and minnie and mickey shoes) and you can find them HERE!

6. I was surprised at how many places sell uniforms. Her school colors are Navy, Light Blue, Khaki, and White. This year, we bought quite a few dresses from HERE!

That pizza hair clip is my favorite……. everything linked above!!!

And here are a few of Rosalie’s non-school picks!

*^^ everything from Cat and Jack line (wish those shoes came in my size)

and dinosaurs….come on!!!!!*

Jacket from Cat and Jack (sold out) shoes (mini melissa) linked above!

Hope this is helpful to some! ❤

Essential Oil Mermaid Hair Leave in Conditioner

DSC_4177Let me start by saying, I’m working with four day hair in these photos (haven’t washed it in four days) Some of you guys are like…”Ew, gross, who does that?!” Yeah, I do!!! Because  ONE- it’s not good to wash your hair every day, or every other day even…. and TWO- if you could go a few days with out having to wash your hair when you shower and restyle everytime, would you? So yeah, in this photo, its time for a wash, but I’m proud of that healthy hair!  Also, I’ve been using this spray all summer, not just to give my hair texture, but for overall hair health. I highlight my hair, and just had my hair done last month, soo looking at those dark roots, that’s how much it has grown in just a month! CRAZY AWESOME! Trying to grow this mane out you guys! So here’s the recipe, how I use it for hair health and salty beach like waves. Also, if you don’t currently use essential oils, and are interested in this recipe, enter to win a bottle over on my Facebook page.

In a 2oz glass bottle combine 1/4 cup of distilled water and 1 tablespoon of coconut milk. Add 10 drops of lavender essential oil (for hair growth support) and 10 drops of Cedarwood essential oil (to help those with dry scalp) and often times I use Rosemary, but am out at the moment. Shake before each use, and I store mine in the refrigerator.

This is a fun recipe for little girls and you can add sparkle to it, and let them decorate the bottle with cute stickers.

I add a few sprays to my combed through/towel dried hair, after getting out of the shower. If i want to have the textured wavy look like I do in the photos, I don’t blow dry my hair, but let it air dry, scrunching it some with my hands. DSC_4145

I reapply it as needed during the week or after I curl my hair for extra texture.

Obviously my kids are digging this spray too… and it’s non toxic. I’m not saying give them a straw, and let them drink up, but I let them have a few sprays too!

(I diffuse both lavender and cedarwood in their bedroom at night for sleep support)

Get it?….

If you have any questions about the recipe, or oils in general, please shoot me an email, and I’d be happy to help you out! Also, check out my FB post, to win a bottle of this spray!
